October 6th, 2007Player Chat - Kim Scott-Wood
October 6th, 2007
Kim says this was supposed to be his tournament. Asked to describe his tournament he said he was birdie-bogey, birdie-bogey. Kim says they pushed in a lot of the string. Had to be more accurate, play a little more conservative, there were a lot of crosswinds. When the disc is coming into the green, you have to anticipate what’s going to happen. The crosswinds were really making it tougher around the greens. Kim says his drives were good but 2nd shots were giving him trouble. Hole 17 kicked his butt. OB is a lot tighter around the basket, and the OB follows the shape of the lake so it makes for a tighter landing area. Hole 17 gets everybody out there. Scott says coming into the tournament he felt great, and has had a great year, he was rookie of the year in 2006. After a poor opening round you cannot fight back, the more you fight back the more you lose strokes. |
Player Chat - Jim Myers
October 6th, 2007
Aced 431 ft. hole 14! With a brand new blue Star Wraith Jim hit his longest ace ever it was his 48th Ace in 30 years. He let it go about 5 ft off ground down the OB side. It skipped straight on the sidewalk and went straight in to bang chains. If not for the Ace it would have been 70 ft. long. He also eagled 12, a 901 ft. hole in just 3 throws. Hole 13 888 got some revenge with a double bogey 7. Had a perfect drive and a perfect upshot on his 3rd the wind caught the disc lifted it up and stalled it early into the asphalt. This is Jim’s 9th trip to the USDGC, he’s also the 2000 Masters world champion He shot even par 68 and found lots of trouble. Jim explained he had 25 OBs here in 72 holes and that’s what kills you on Winthrop Gold! |

Everyone was out early for the release of this year’s Champion Spectator Rocs of which only 1000 were made. Many were in line well before 7:30 AM when the doors didn’t open till 8 AM. Over 50 were in line before the doors opened. This year sales were limited to 5 Rocs per person making this a very limited release. Some were set aside to raise money for the USDGC. |
